Youth Events

In association with Englewood Library’s Young Adult Librarian, Lynn Kaminski, CavanKerry authors became part of The Visiting Poets Series at the Janis E. Dismus Middle School.  This event is also part of CavanKerry’s community outreach program.

The first event involved poets Ross Gay, Sondra Gash, and Joan Cusack Handler who met with three classes for three weeks.  A combination of readings and discussions were followed by students actively creating their original poetry during the lively sessions.  Ms. Kaminiski said, “Every poet brought something special and students reacted with enthusiasm and creativity.  I believe that CavanKerry Press was able to introduce our teens to ideas and other points of view.”

A second week-long session was held with poets Sondra Gash and Susan Jackson.

We welcome honorariums if they are available for the authors, but there are no other costs involved for a CavanKerry reading.
