CavanKerry Press seeks submissions
for LAURELBOOKS imprint only.

LAURELBOOKS are collections of poetry or prose memoirs that explore in depth poignant and critical issues associated with personally confronting serious and life-threatening physical or psychological illness. CavanKerry seeks work written from a personal perspective by the individual who has experienced the illness or by the individual personally and deeply involved with the person who suffered from the illness.

About Submissions
The theme, LIVES BROUGHT TO LIFE, resonates from all CKP titles.
CKP is partial to the writer whose distinct voice is emotionally accessible and daring. We discourage writers from sending victim-ridden, preachy or sentimental material. Works functioning as soapboxes for political causes are unacceptable. CKP does not publish self-help, how-to, romance or science fiction.
Manuscripts are read with respect and care. As long as guidelines are met, manuscripts are never turned aside without attention and careful scrutiny. Many months may pass before you hear from CKP. We are unable to take phone calls or respond to emails about submissions.

Manuscripts that are carefully self-edited, scrutinized by mentor(s), polished and ready for publication will stand out from the hundreds of submissions that CKP receives.

GUIDELINES-Read carefully before submitting your mss.
Only hardcopy, complete manuscripts will be accepted. No electronic submissions or partial manuscripts accepted.

Writers may submit only one manuscript.
Writer’s name, address, telephone and email must appear on title page. Unidentified manuscripts will not be read.

CKP will not accept or read manuscripts previously published electronically online, self-published in print or electronically by author or another publisher/company/organization.
A submission containing previously published contents from a chapbook may contain no more than l/3 of chapbook.

Manuscripts containing limited selections that previously were accepted and published in journals are acceptable.

CKP will not accept a revised manuscript after receiving original submission. Do not send revisions! Minor revisions will be handled after acceptance for publication.

LAURELBOOKS manuscripts with postmarks later than January 31, 2012 are unacceptable.

Manuscripts will not be returned. Do not send postage. If you wish to be notified that your manuscript arrived, include a stamped, self-addressed postcard.

Simultaneous submissions are permitted but advise
florenz@cavankerrypress.org immediately if your mss is accepted elsewhere.

CKP currently is unable to accept a manuscript unless it is accompanied by a $20.00 handling fee. Check should be made out to CavanKerry Press and included with submission.
